Dr. Kent Smith is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. In 2007, he was asked to start a sleep curriculum at the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Clinical Studies, and taught the Sleep Disorders course for several years until leaving to pursue other teaching opportunities. In 2011, he started the SKISH Initiative (SKISH stands for "School Kids in Safe Hands"), with a goal of keeping school bus drivers awake while they transport our treasured children. In 2012, he was the first in Texas and among the first group in the U.S. to be awarded a Dental Sleep Medicine Facility Accreditation. In 2013, he was asked to host a weekly radio show on sleep disorders, and is now "The Sleep Doctor", heard every Tuesday at 1PM on KAAM 770.
Dr. Smith is the creator of 21st Century Dental, which became the first dental office in the country to win the Consumers Choice Award for Business Excellence in 2008, repeating the honor in each of the next 4 years. He has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the Early Show with Bryant Gumbel, local television and many dental and non-dental publications.
